The vice minister has decided not to appoint a corrupt politician as a secret salary conscript as a state minister; the cabinet will also make the decision on the 13th.

The government and ruling party have finalized the appointments of vice ministers and parliamentary secretaries for the second Suga Cabinet on the 12th. Members of the LDP who were involved in the faction slush fund scandal and had omissions in their political funds reports will not be appointed. It has been decided to appoint Atsushi Adachi, a member of the House of Councillors from the LDP, as Vice Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Akiko Shirai, also a member of the House of Councillors from the LDP, as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs. This decision will be made at the cabinet meeting on the 13th.
Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba seems to have judged that appointing members involved in the faction slush fund scandal to important positions could lead to public backlash, now that the Lower House election is over. The aim seems to be to avoid opposition from the opposition parties while aiming to revise the Political Funds Control Law by the end of the year.
Masahiro Takamura has been appointed as Vice Minister of Justice, and Aiko Shirai has been appointed as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
